K&J is avian rescue, rehab, and sanctuary based out of Jackson, MI. Currently, we're taking in all species of birds, be they, neglected, abused, or malnourished at any given time. If a situation has arisen, and you need to give up your feathered loved one, we will gladly take it in, no questions asked.We will travel as far as necessary to help you and your bird out!

We then rehab the bird, if it's neglected or abused, and get it ready to be adopted out. If you'd like, we allow updates on the birds while in this process. All birds are fully vetted after they come in, and they get a proper cage, if one is not given upon surrender, proper diet, and plenty of outside play time.

Our adoption process, while similar to others you may have seem, is very extensive. We only adopt to prescreened, pre-approved homes, who are double checked before they get a bird, and checked again after they take the bird home. These poor bird have probably been rehomed at least 5 times as a base judgement. These homes are crucial, since moves stress the bird, and the new home is meant as a Forever Home!

Now, sometimes, you just can't take your bird biting, or screaming, or something along those lines, and you just want the bird gone. We're here to offer help if need be, to get you and your bird back on common ground. We've got alot of very experienced members willing to help at a moments notice.

We also have an extensive list of reputable rescues throughout michigan and parts of ohio, as well as avian vets across the state. My Friend, who runs another rescue, has checked all of these vets personally!

As always, our primary goal is education of parrot owners to help reduce the amount of birds that go into rescues. We're here to help YOU help your bird, through training and experienced handling. If a bird can be helped, we will try our best to make your bird happy again! There's usually just one small factor behind a mean and ornery bird, so time and patience can help the situation and do wonders for the relationship between the two of you!

We also do long term pet fostering, if you'd like to go on vacation, or if your home situation requires your bird to come here for a while, but to come back to you after the situation has stabilized. This service is free to members on my site, as long as they provide food and shreddable toys for the duration of their stay, or the cost is what i would have to pay for said items. As usual, we'll have contractual agreements on this as well.

Never trust a rescue that does not allow either adopters or surrenders into they're homes! That is a true warning, and has been remarked on numerous times in Parrot Talk Magazine.
These people are usually breeders, and have something to hide. A good rescue doesn't. The bad breeders are easy enough to see sometimes...
