| Hiraido (The Open Way) Self-defense is a system of combat that combines mixed martial arts techniques with practical self-defense techniques into one class. Although not a traditional martial art with uniforms and belts, Hiraido Self-Defense does seek to perpetuate the philosophical teachings of Henry S. Okazaki, which describe the purpose of practicing any martial art as the overall development of the person. Designed with simplicity and effectiveness in mind, these on-going workouts provide participants with a strong personal defense as well as a great workout. Taught by women and for women only, this class focuses on not only teaching the best physical tactics to use, but also how to prepare mentally for an assault, and ultimately for anything else. Classes blend striking, throwing, and grappling applications with drills for escaping, avoiding and spontaneously reacting to attacks. A great class for mothers and daughters to do together. Join us for a fun workout and learn some valuable skills too.
