Over the years of breeding basset hounds I have had numerous calls asking if we have MINI basset hounds.
My response has always been there is no such thing!
American Kennel Club doesn't have a separate breed for basset hounds that are smaller than others. This remains true even now. That being said, I have the smallest basset hound puppy we have ever had. The picture shows 2 tri-color males they are both born June 21, the picture is taken Aug 5, 09 One puppy is 5 1/2 lbs (the average size of all other pups in this litter) Then there is mighty small pup he is 2 1/2 lbs.
