All things in life, especially marriage must be built upon a strong and firm foundation. Building Strong Marriages is all about helping others to build and maintain a foundation that will survive and prosper through the test of time.

We believe that having a personal faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation - and learning proper relationship skills is the framework built upon that foundation. Many couples are missing both elements and marriages are crumbling at an alarming rate. Couples can achieve a strong foundation and a framework that will not fail. That is God's best plan for the individual, for marriage, and for the family.

Scripture is our plumb line to tell us if we are living right. James tells us in Chapter 2:17 that: "faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead". Many other scriptures give guidance on how to love one another to fulfill God's plan for marriage.

* Walk in love. (2 John 1:3-6)
* Love in more than words. (1 John 3:18)
* Love each other deeply. (1 Peter 1:22)
* Bear with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)
* Serve one another in love. (Galatians 5:13)
* If we don't have love we are as sounding brass. (1 Corinthians 13:1)

While skills are very important to maintaining strong marriages and families, it is by the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts and minds of husbands and wives, that real and lasting growth and change is achieved.

God has created us in such a way that we will never cease to grow in our relationships with each other and with Him. Each person owes it to their spouse to continually work toward good mental and emotional health and on being the best marriage partner they can be. Often couples need a bright spot of hope through encouragement and learning new skills to be empowered to make effective changes in their own marriages. Often it takes learning better methods of communication or changing some basic ways of relating. Sometimes it takes a lot of work to overcome bad habits and weaknesses developed over many years. Contrary to popular opinion, it can be done - even many years into marriage.

The Way Education and Counseling Center (WECC), offers Pre-marriage counseling, marriage and relationship counseling, using the PREPARE and ENRICH inventory assessments and feedback. We also offer life skills training, anger and stress management tools and techniques.
