German Hunt Terrier pups - Deutscher Jagdterriers. High energy hunters. Bred for wild boar, feral hogs, and can be used for squirrel, deer jump dogs, nutria and anything that goes into burrows and holes. Used extensively by many deer hunters as on-leash wounded deer recovery dogs, also known as blood trail dogs. They do this naturally with little to no training because of their high prey drive. Some in Europe use them to retrieve ducks. They are used as den dogs to kill underground nutria, fox, badger and coyotes. Because of high prey drive, excellent scenting ability and small athletic size, they would excel as drug detection, weapons, explosives and contraband dogs.
They are like a Jack Russell Terrier, except they are black and tan in color and are much stronger, tougher, more game drive, more energy and have better hunting scenting ability and can run faster and farther. They also handle large dangerous big game like boar, bear and cougar better. The breed standard is 20 pounds and 16 inches at the shoulder. UKC and American Jagdterrier Assoc. registered. Father is one generation away from European (Croatia) imports, mother is from professional hunter's lines in Idaho and Alabama. Both parents are used by biologists extensively for wild hog population control. Puppies were born 09/20/08. 4 males and 4 females. Dewclaws removed in front and tails docked.
