Food For Thought

I was driving home from work the other day and had a crazy idea. I was thinking about all these government bailouts of the mega banking conglomerates and huge corporations and just trying to wrap my mind around one million, let alone one billion. The news agencies are reporting billions of dollars in bailouts to these companies that have already made billions of dollars from regular folks like us. So it got me thinking about something that seemed so crazy and off the wall, that I hope the media will take notice and give comfort to all of us who are afraid of what financial turmoil is around the next turn. I want all of you to participate in a social experiment with me. I want everyone who is afraid and struggling to send me their story and a photo along with $5, the trivial couple bucks is what I think will make the media take note, since the world seems to revolve around money. Think about it, we spend hundreds of dollars a week with junk food and other sources of instant gratification, what’s five bucks to help change the world for the better. I have never heard of anyone else trying anything like this, so I decided to give it a shot. I wish I had heard of someone doing this, I would have bought in.

I want to see how many people there are out there who are just like me and still believe there is something bigger than us all. I want to get the stories of all of those people out there who are struggling but still believe in helping their friends and neighbors. It’s time to show the whole world that we still believe in community and family and country. We need the world to see, now more than ever that we are all one universal brotherhood of men and women, standing together, to fight for the most basic and essential of rights, the right to live and be free. I want this to grow into a huge media craze and demonstrate once and for all that amongst all the bad news and grim forecasts of impending doom, that lurking beneath it all is the undying human spirit that will never give in. I want you to join me in letting the world know that we care about one another and that most amazing characteristic of all humanity is compassion. Will you help me show that there is still decency and humanity in the world? Will you help me highlight that in this world of war and greed, that the mass populace is honest and decent and moral and just? We need to have a bright beacon of hope in these desolate times of uncertainty. This is my idea, my social experiment that I hope will grow out of control and become a movement of its own. Help me today, send me your story, your picture, and your gift to make the world take notice and we can together change the world.
