In June, WFTV Channel 9 reported that 15 apartments were robbed in Winter Springs within the last 5 months by thieves picking open the victims’ door locks.

Local police had ruled out someone using a master key to gain access into the apartments, but I thought it was strange that the one thing not mentioned in the story was the possibility of lock bumping. After all, picking locks requires skill and time. Time is something thieves generally don’t have. They want to get in and out quickly without being noticed. In that case, lock bumping is the way to go for most thieves and anyone with access to the internet can learn this skill.
