- Year: 1972 - Make/Model: O'Day Mariner 2+2 - Location: Green Bay - Length: 19ft - Engine: 6 hp Johnson - Fuel: premix - Hull: fiberglass - Condition: sound
This is a 19 ft O’Day Mariner 2+2 sailboat with center board. It is rated to be unsinkable, self righting, and capable of sleeping 4 in the cabin. It also has a self bailing cockpit. All of this makes this sailboat very forgiving and practical. For more information on the model, see: http://www.usmariner.org/
I have 4 sails that cover the full range of wind, including a reefing main and 110% jib. The hull is fiberglass, mast is aluminum, center board is cast iron, and sails are dacron. The cockpit and cabin cushions are in average condition, no tears or holes, original vinyl covered. This is the 2 + 2 model, it has forward "V" cushions, and 2 aft quarterberths, the aft berths are for small kids. Some gear: 2 anchors, life preservers, sonar, bilge pump, are included.
The trailer is included and it's in good condition. I added bearing buddies to the trailer the last time I changed the bearings. I always fill the bearing buddies after every run. The whole rig travels smooth and steady at 65 and I used to pull it with my 2.2 liter {4 cyl} S10. Any pickup truck or mid sized car should be able to pull this rig. I figure the total weight of boat and trailer to be about 1600 lbs.
The motor is a 6 hp Johnson Seahorse which doesn’t seem to have many hours on it. Much over a fast idle just overpowers the hull and so what use is on the motor has been very light. The motor is mounted to a very good lifting mount on the stern, heavy duty.
The boat will go in the water this year with little effort. This is approximately a 35 year old boat, motor, and trailer all of which are sound.
I’ve had this boat about 15 years and it has sat on its trailer for almost all of those years. I t did spend one season on Green Bay. I bought this boat when my two kids were in grade school for cheap family fun. My strategy was to trailer the boat to fun places to sail and sleep on the boat while there. I had it to the Apostle Island National Lake Shore in Lake Superior twice and on Lake Michigan several times. Dave Paul (Green Bay, WI) 920-432-2696
