White Bellied Caique (amazon parrot)

White Bellied Caique (amazon parrot)

- Breed: parrot
- Ages: 7 months

Hello,
We have a white bellied caique (aka white fronted amazon). He was hatched in september (hand fed) so he’s only about half grown. He is a fantastic bird. Very playful and loving. He does mimic some but doesn’t ‘talk’. He gets along great with the kids and the dog. He is leg banded, and we took him to the vet for an exam, had him sexed and did all the blood tests for avian diseases (which I will turn over the paperwork new owner). Exam went great, he IS a boy, and all tests were negative.

A little bit about my boy,
He loves fresh fruit and veggies, he is on a certified organic diet (Harrisons), his manners are up to snuff (he’s never bitten us or even tried to, no screaming, etc…), VERY intelligent, quite the ham, currently going through his second molt (awwww….), loves to give kisses, will even lay on his back for belly rubs! loves to perch on your shoulder and watch tv with you, loves his toys and treats, likes to hang out in the window sill tweeting at other birds outside, LOVES to be outside when its warm (wont try to run off), great with kids (and I have a mischievious toddler!), he even likes the dog!
He is such a goofball, loves to hang upside down, very much a clown. His favorite treats are cashews, pisachios, and stawberries.
He doesn’t care for the vaccum too much, and I tried taking him in the shower with me once because other folks said their bird loved it. well, he didn’t like that so much either so I wouldn’t recommend doing that again. he didn’t speak to me for the whole afternoon. He does love his bath in the kitchen sink though. Just put his ladder in, turn the faucet on dribble and he’ll do the rest. Don’t miss a day or he’ll follow you around all morning “hey! Hey Lady! You forgot my bath!!!!”

He comes with his house (huge, has a playard on top and five bowls for food and water, lots of levers for easy cleaning, a drop tray, and a storage shelf underneith as well), all his toys (tons, plus extra perches and ladders from the set up my hubby made for him in the kitchen), treats, vetrinary paperwork, a ‘how to’ book about caiques including what foods are safe to give them and what isnt, and a large bag of Harrisons certified organic parrot food from the vet. We are asking $2,500., firm. We’re not desperate to “unload” him, so please don’t email me asking for a lower price, you wont find a bird like this for this price anywhere. From the pet store these little guys go up to $1500 just for the bird. He comes with a house big enough for a macaw (these go from $400-$600+. You could put one or two more birds the same size in with him.), a ton of toys (several hundred $ worth), and a vet check with all bloodwork that you’ll never get from a breeder or pet store. Even if you arent interested in my bird, please have the bird you do choose, bloodtested. There are two diseases birds can give to humans that will make you ill. For cost saving measures breeders and pet stores DO NOT have these done. With this bird you know it’s safe to give him kisses and love up on him. I would prefer someone with parrot experience but he’s pretty easy going and doesn’t have any bad habits that would need working on so if you don’t have any experience its not the end of the world. There is a lot of information out there, and I have a lot of information as well so I’m sure a beginner would do just fine with this type of bird.

Anyone interested in him is welcome to come for a meet n greet. Bring your kids if you like so you can introduce the “flock” LOL!

We’re not in a hurry so if this is still posted, he is still available. I’ll leave it up until the right person comes along.
