About this litter:
There are 2 little boys and one little girl from which you may choose (get here quick!) 2 of them are fawn-colored like their ma, but with white markings like their dad. The other one (the tiniest) has coloring/markings like his dad. They are SOOOOO perfect. You will melt like butter when you see them!
Who are these little guys:
These are the puppies of our personal pets, Zippy and Lucy. They will be socialized in our home and de-wormed and given first shots, before they go to their new homes (probably around the end of January '08). They will probably be around 4-6 lbs. each when full-grown.
Background on our pets: Zippy is
full-bred chihuahua, chocolate and vanilla coloring, short-haired, a little
barrel-chested, affectionate and patient with children (we have four). He
weighed approx. nine lbs. at his last visit to the veterinarian.
Lucy is also full-bred chihuahua, fawn colored, short-haired, delicately proportioned, affectionate and gentle but timid. She is also patient around the children. She weighed approx. four and one-half lbs. at her last visit.
Some things to consider:
*Adopting a chihuahua is almost like adopting a child: expect to raise him/her for up to 17 years! This is a big commitment; do not do it on a whim.
*Please read a book on chihuahuas before you decide on a chihuahua as a pet. I recommend "Chihuahuas for Dummies."
*Where will the chihuahua be kept? It is not a good idea to leave chihuahuas unattended outdoors, EVEN IF you have a fenced-in area. Larger animals (even birds) can easily harm a chihuahua.
* Chis are delicate. Please be sure that all those who live with you, visit you, etc. are instructed regarding their requirement for gentle, patient handling.
* Consider adopting two chihuahuas! We enjoy having more than one at our house! Chis make great company for each other, too.
* We may require personal interviews and/or may check your references before entrusting you with one of Lucy's babies.
* You are required to obtain an SPCA voucher for spaying/neutering (these cost about $57) OR leave a refundable surcharge ($100.00, refundable after you provide written documentation of the pet's spaying/neutering) before he/she can go home with you.
